Police have registered a case against a YouTuber Kodam Prannoy Kumar in Sircilla district of Telangana. Kumar had recently posted the recipe video of peacock curry on his channel. Since peacock is the national bird, there are strict restrictions in Indian law on its rearing and hunting. This matter has become very sensitive regarding this matter.
Killing and hunting of peacock is considered a legal offense in India. Under the relevant law, catching, killing or rearing peacocks is illegal and violation of the same carries severe penalties. For this reason a case has been registered against Kumar. Police said that there is an allegation against Kumar of illegal killing of peacock.
Commenting on the matter, Rajanna Sircilla district SP Akhil Mahajan said, “A case has been registered under the relevant law and strict action will also be taken against any other person involved in such activities.” ” Mahajan, in a separate post, clarified that Kumar will be sent on remand and appropriate action will be taken under the law.
Although Kumar has removed the video, animal rights activists are still demanding his arrest and advocating strict action against him. Animal rights groups say that such videos send wrong messages to society and can reduce people’s sensitivity towards the national birds.
Earlier, Kumar had also uploaded other videos on his channel in which he had also shared the recipe of wild boar curry. However, the video of peacock curry has made the matter more controversial. Now Kumar is facing legal troubles for his activities.
