India is the defending champion of the Under-19 World Cup. The team won the title by defeating England in the final.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the schedule of the Women’s Under-19 World Cup. Sri Lanka, West Indies and host Malaysia were placed in the group of defending champion Team India. 41 matches of the tournament will be played in 4 stadiums in Malaysia.
The second edition of the tournament will start from January 18, 2025. Like last time, this time also 16 teams will participate, the final will be played on 2 February.
All Group A matches at Byumas Oval
All Group A matches will be played at the Byumas Oval ground in Selangor. Team India is also a part of Group A. Apart from Group-A, the final will also be played here. All the matches of Group B will be held in the stadium of Dr. Harjit Singh Johar Cricket Academy built in Dato. Group C matches will be held at Borneo Cricket Ground in Sarawak and Group D matches will be held at UKM VSD Oval Stadium in Selangor.
Samoa team will play its first World Cup
From junior to senior level, Samoa team will participate in a World Cup for the first time. They have been placed in Group C along with New Zealand, South Africa and African qualifier team. This will also be the first Women’s Under-19 World Cup for Malaysia, included in Group A.
Previous runner-up teams England, Pakistan, Ireland and America have been placed in Group B. Whereas in Group-D there will be teams from Australia, Bangladesh, Scotland and Asia Qualifier.
Team India will play its first match on January 19
16 warm-up matches between 16 teams will start from January 13. The warm-up matches will continue till January 16, with a break on January 17. Then 6 matches will be played on the opening day itself on 18th January. However, India Women’s team will play its first match against South Africa on 19 January.

Super-6 stage will be held after the group
There are 4-4 teams in each group, all the teams will play 3-3 matches in the group stage. Like last time, this time too there will be a Super-6 stage, 3-3 top teams of each group will enter the Super-6 stage. The Super-6 stage will start from January 25. There will be a total of 12 teams in 2 groups, 2 semi-finals will be played between the top 2 teams of each group on 30th and 31st January. Whose final will be held between the winning teams on 2 February.
India won the title by defeating England
The concept of Under-19 World Cup in women’s cricket came into effect from 2023. Then the tournament played in South Africa was won by the India Women’s team. Team India, captained by Shefali Verma, had bowled out England for only 68 runs. India again achieved the target by losing just 3 wickets in 14 overs.
The Women’s Under-19 World Cup is played in T-20 format, while the Men’s Under-19 World Cup is played in the ODI format. The Men’s Under-19 World Cup was first held in 1988, with the tournament taking place every two years since 1998. Similarly, the Women’s Under-19 World Cup will also be held every two years from 2023.
