Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz has won the Wimbledon title for the second consecutive time. In the final held on Sunday at London’s Center Court, he defeated Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, who has won 24 Grand Slams.
In this match that lasted 2 hours 27 minutes in the center court, Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, 7-6. Alcaraz also won the Wimbledon title in 2023. Here too, Novak Djokovic was in front of him in the final.

Alcaraz wins first Grand Slam in 2022, also becomes world number-1
2022 was the year of Alcaraz. He entered Australia Open for the first time with 31st seed. He lost in the third round itself, but won four ATP titles including Miami, Madrid, Rio and Conde Godo Open. In the same year, in the US Open final, he defeated world number-5 Caspar Ruud by a margin of 4-6, 6-2, 7-6, 6-3 and won his first Grand Slam.
He ended the year as world number-1 and continued the same form in 2023 and also won the Wimbledon final. Alcaraz won the French Open title this year by defeating Alexander Zverev.
Who is Alcaraz?
Carlos was born on 5 May 2003 in Spain. Carlos started playing tennis at the age of 4. He got inspiration for this from his father Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez, who was counted among the top-40 tennis players of Spain. Alcaraz’s coach is former top-seeded player Juan Carlos Ferrero.
It was under his guidance that Carlos started playing professional tennis at the age of 15. Alcaraz is one of the few players in tennis history who did not lose in the first round of his debut Grand Slam.
Djokovic First player to win 24 Grand Slams in the Open Era
Serbia’s Djokovic has reached the Wimbledon final for the 10th time. Djokovic is the first player in the Open Era to win 24 Grand Slams. Earlier, Djokovic was equal to Serena Williams (23 Grand Slams) in terms of winning the most Grand Slams (Men’s and Women’s Singles). Margaret Court has also won a total of 24 Grand Slams, but 13 of those titles were in her name before the Open Era.
The Open Era in tennis began in 1968 when all players (amateur and professional) were allowed to participate in all four Grand Slams. This is called Open Era.

Barbora was playing her second Grand Slam singles final and won the Grand Slam title for the second time. Earlier, he had won the French Open title in the year 2021. This is the third Grand Slam of the year Wimbledon
There are 4 Grand Slams in tennis. All four are held annually, starting with the Australian Open in January. The French Open takes place in May and June. Wimbledon is held in July and US Open is held in August-September. The US Open is the last Grand Slam of the year.
All England Club organizes Wimbledon
Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam tournament which is not organized by any National Tennis Association. It is organized by All England Club. The club was established in 1868. Tennis was earlier called croquet. Six members together started the All England Tennis and Croquet Club and later they started the Wimbledon tournament in 1877.
Today it is a private club and has 565 members. The Princess of Wales is the owner of this club.
Trophy not changed, copy handed over to champion
The trophy has been awarded to the winner of the men’s singles at Wimbledon since 1887. The male champion receives a cup 18.5 inches tall and 7.5 inches wide. The player who becomes champion is presented with a replica of the trophy, which bears the names of previous champions, while the original trophy is kept in the museum of the All England Club.
