Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has given her first reaction after being disqualified from the Paris Olympics. 29 year old Vinesh expressed her pain through an X post on Friday. This post posted a 3 page letter.

During the Paris Olympics, Vinesh was disqualified on August 7 just before the final for being 100 grams overweight. Before that, the Indian wrestler tried to lose weight overnight. She worked hard for about five and a half hours, but could not bring her weight to her weight category of 50 kg.

Highlights of Vinesh’s letter…

  • ‘When I was young, I didn’t know about the Olympics. Like every little girl, I also wanted to have long hair. Wanted to roam around with the phone in hand. My father is a normal bus driver. He wanted to see his daughter flying in an aeroplane. I fulfilled my father’s dream. Whenever they mention it to me, I laugh.
  • ‘Despite all difficulties, my family kept faith in God. We believe that whatever God has planned for us must be good. My mother always says that God never lets bad things happen in the lives of good people. I became more convinced of this when I moved forward on the path of life with my husband Somveer. Somveer has supported me in every journey.
