Satwik Chirag Thailand Open 2024: India’s star pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have won the Thailand Open Super 500 Badminton Men’s Doubles title. In the final they defeated Liu Yi and Chen Bo Yang of China. The pair, ranked third in the world rankings, registered a 21-15, 21-15 win over the 29th ranked opposition team. In this way both of them have strengthened their Olympic preparations. This is the Asian Games champion pair’s second title of the season and ninth BWF World Tour title of their career. He won the French Open Super 750 title in March. Both were runners-up in Malaysia Super 1000 and India Super 750.
Chirag said – Bangkok is special for us
After the victory, Chirag said that Bangkok is special for us. We won the Super Series here for the first time in 2019 and then the Thomas Cup. Satwik and Chirag had lost in the second round at the All England Championship. After this, Satwik could not play the Asian Championship due to injury. He could not perform well even in the Thomas Cup. The pair reached the Thailand Open final without losing a single game. Liu and Chen also performed brilliantly in their journey to the finals. But they had no answer to the excellent form of the Indian pair. Satwik and Chirag soon took a 5-1 lead. After this, Chen and Liu made a comeback with four consecutive points. When the score was 7-7, the Chinese pair made a 39-shot rally and took the lead 10-7. He made some long rallies, but Chirag made the score 10-10 through stormy returns.

After the break, Satwik and Chirag took a lead of 14-11. This lead soon became 16-12. The Chinese pair scored three points, but after this the Indian pair won the game by scoring five consecutive points. In the second game, the Indian pair started with an 8-3 lead and maintained a five-point lead at the break. Chen and Liu scored three points in a row but Satwik broke their rhythm. When the score was 15-11, Satwik was warned for delaying the game and Chirag lost two points. With this the Chinese pair took a lead of 15-14. However, after this the Indian pair performed brilliantly and did not give them any chance again.
