Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah played the last international match for India on June 29 in the T20 World Cup final.

BCCI may rest senior players of the Indian team, which won the T-20 World Cup last week, captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah from the Sri Lanka tour. A young team like the Zimbabwe tour can be sent on the Sri Lanka tour starting from 27th July. Hardik Pandya or KL Rahul can be given the captaincy of the ODI team.

PTI claimed that the Indian selectors are considering giving rest to the senior players of the world champion team. If this happens then all three Indian players will be on rest for about 80 days. Because after the Sri Lanka tour, India will directly face Bangladesh on 19th September. The Indian team is going on a tour of Sri Lanka from July 27, where the team has to play 3 ODIs and 3 T20s.

Why give comfort to seniors?

In such a situation, the selectors can give rest to Rohit-Kohli and Bumrah under workload management.

Rahul or Pandya can captain
After the retirement of Rohit Sharma, India is yet to choose a new captain in the T-20 format. Hardik Pandya is currently leading in this race. He can also be made the captain of the ODI team on the Sri Lanka tour. However, wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul can also lead the team in ODIs on this tour.

The Indian team is currently playing a 5-match T20 series against Zimbabwe. The selectors have sent a youth team under the captaincy of Shubman Gill for this tour.
