There is a decline in the stock market today i.e. on Tuesday (May 21). Sensex is trading at 73,850 with a fall of more than 100 points. There is also a decline of about 30 points in Nifty. It is trading at the level of 22,450.
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 21 are showing decline and 9 are showing rise. A rise of about 3% is being seen in the shares of Coal India. The company’s shares are trading at Rs 482.65 with an increase of Rs 12.95 (2.76%).

Slight decline in Indian market due to slowness in Asian market
The impact of the death of Iran’s President in a helicopter crash is visible on the entire Asian market. China’s Hang Seng index is down by more than 2%. At the same time, flat trading is being seen in Japan’s Nikkei index. There is also a decline in Taiwan’s stock market today. Its effect is also visible on the Indian market.
Slight rise in ONGC shares
Despite strong quarterly results, there is a slight rise in the shares of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation i.e. ONGC today. Its share is trading at Rs 279.45 with a rise of Rs 0.45 (0.16%).
Yesterday i.e. on May 20, ONGC Limited had released the results of the fourth quarter (January-March) of the financial year 2024. According to this, the company’s profit in the fourth quarter increased by 78% on annual basis (YoY) to ₹ 11,526 crore. The company’s consolidated net profit in the same quarter a year ago was ₹6,478 crore.

There was a rise in the market on 18th May
Earlier on May 18, a slight rise was seen in the stock market. The Sensex closed at 74,005 with a gain of 88 points. There was also a rise of 35 points in Nifty. It closed at the level of 22,502.
The stock market opened on Saturday, May 18, which was also a holiday. During this period, two special live trading sessions took place. The first phase would be a 45-minute session which would start at 9:15 am and end at 10:00 am.
The second special live trading session started at 11:45 am and continued till 12:30 pm. This was done to test the disaster recovery site.
