Charith Asalanka has been made the new captain of Sri Lanka’s T-20 team.

Sri Lanka Cricket Board on Tuesday announced a 16-member T-20 team for the series against India. The command of T-20 has been handed over to Charith Asalanka. Due to poor performance in the recently held T-20 World Cup, former captain Wanindu Hasaranga had left the captaincy. On July 18, BCCI had announced the Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour.

Team India will play a series of 3 T-20 matches in Sri Lanka. The first match will be played in Pallekele on 27th July at 7:00 pm. The ODI series will start from August 2 in Colombo.

The Indian team last toured Sri Lanka in 2021. The team played a series of 3 ODI and 3 T-20 matches. India won the three-match ODI series 2-1. India had to face 2-1 defeat in the T-20 series.

Charith Asalanka became the new captain
Charith Asalanka has been made the new captain of Sri Lanka’s T20 team after Wanindu Hasaranga stepped down from the captaincy on July 11. Charith Asalanka captained in 2 matches against Bangladesh this year. In which he had to face victory in 1 and defeat in 1. The captaincy of ODI is already with Kusal Mendis. The command of the test is in the hands of Dhananjay de Silva.
