Spirit AeroSystems is laying off 450 people. It is Boeing’s main spoiler that forms the backbone of its popular 737 Max airplanes. The company has begun layoffs after a 737 Max plane operated by Alaska Airlines suffered a production meltdown after a panel failed in January.
Spirit AeroSystems spokesman Joe Buccino confirmed the layoffs at its Wichita (Kansas) plant on Thursday. This will reduce the number of employees at the plant which already employs just over 13 thousand people. “The recent slowdown in delivery rates on commercial programs made it necessary to reduce our workforce in Wichita,” Buccino said.
Working from home is no longer a matter of concern
The demand for premium office space in major cities is likely to exceed 70 million sq ft this year and going forward, work from home is no longer a concern for the Indian commercial real estate market. “India is now interestingly being called the office of the world. And the demand in India is one of the biggest in Asia and In fact ranks highest in the rest of the world.” He said the Indian office market is witnessing very strong demand across seven major cities.
“So, from an office market perspective, the year 2020, except for, and perhaps part of 2021, 2022 and 2023, have been very strong years and we expect 2024 to continue to be an exceptionally strong year as well,” Jain said. On demand for 2024, Jain said, “Gross leasing activity in India will remain above 70 million sq ft this year. And I see the same trend happening over the next few years.”
