Just before the Paris Olympic Games, the Indian shooter seems to be in controversy once again. On Tuesday, the family members of some shooters have accused a renowned national coach of tampering with the rifle.
A family member of a shooter, on condition of anonymity, told PTI that the coach tampered with their son’s rifle. After which he had to buy new equipment. However, the family refused to reveal the identity of the coach. How can a coach make such changes to the gun without the player’s permission a day before the World Cup? The matter pertains to the ISSF World Cup held in Bhopal last year. However, National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) general secretary Rajeev Bhatia has denied these allegations.
Let us remind you that even in Tokyo Olympics-2020, Indian shooters were left empty handed due to controversy. Four months ago, Team India’s High-Performance Director had expelled the country’s famous former shooter Jaspal Rana from the range. Even after this a controversy had arisen. full news
Player’s father said – many shooters have complained
The player’s father said that this happens whenever the coach concerned goes abroad with the team. The coach argues that you need to experiment, but what kind of experiments are you doing a day before the World Cup. Many shooters have also informed the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) in this regard.
General Secretary said – No information about any such incident
NRAI general secretary Rajeev Bhatia denied these allegations. He said- I am not aware of any such incident. Bhatia said that no one has filed a complaint with us. I don’t think that would have happened. If this had happened then the shooters should have come forward openly. Why are such allegations being made only when he is not selected? The World Cup was held in Bhopal in March last year and a lot of time has passed since then.
Old record of tampering with guns
The father of another shooter alleged that the coach had a past record of tampering with guns. He said that my son had gone to play the World Cup and the coach along with the jury (member) had tampered with the gun. Koch has a prior record of tampering with guns. We did not bring this to the notice of NRAI because we fear retaliation.
