Sachin Sargerao Khilari won silver medal in shot put, India got 21st medal in Paris Paralympics.


Sachin Khilari gave India its first medal on the seventh day of Paris Paralympics. Sachin Sarjerao Khilari won silver medal in men’s shot put (F46). The 34-year-old player made his best throw in the second attempt. He won a gold medal at the World Para Athletics Championships in Japan in May. With this medal of Sachin, India’s medal count has reached 21. India has so far won 3 gold, 7 silver and 11 bronze medals in the Paris Paralympics. The other two Indians in this event, Mohammad Yasar and Rohit Kumar, finished 8th and 9th respectively.

In the final of the men’s shot put (F46) event in the Paralympics, Sachin Sarjerao Khilari made a throw of 16.32 meters in his second attempt and won the silver medal. Canada’s Greg Stewart won gold in this event. He threw 16.38 meters. Croatia’s Bakovic Luka won the bronze medal. He threw 16.27 meters. Sachin’s silver medal is India’s 11th medal in athletics at the Paris Paralympics. He won the gold medal in the Asian Para Games in China.

The F46 category includes players who have weakness in their arms, reduced muscle strength or limited passive range of motion in their arms. Such athletes compete while standing.
