Sunday double header records…

1. Bolt played his 100th IPL match
RR’s left arm pacer Trent Boult played his 100th match in IPL. He became the first foreign left arm bowler to score a century in a match in the tournament. After him, Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh has played 71 IPL matches.

2. CSK won the 50th match in Chepauk.
Chennai Super Kings defeated Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets at Chepauk Stadium. This was the home team’s 50th IPL win in Chepauk. CSK became the third team to score fifty wins on one ground. Before that, MI had won 52-52 matches at Wankhede Stadium and KKR had won 52-52 matches at Eden Gardens Stadium.

3. Jadeja out due to field obstruction
CSK batsman Ravindra Jadeja was declared out by the umpire due to ‘Obstructing the Field’ rule. Jadeja was returning for the second run in the 16th over, but Rituraj Gaikwad stopped him from taking the run. Jadeja was standing in front of the stumps, due to which wicketkeeper Sanju Samson could not throw properly.

After RR’s appeal, the umpire took a review, replays showed that Jadeja was in the way of the stumps, hence he was considered out. According to MCC rule 37.1.4, if a batsman deliberately comes in the way of the stumps while taking a run, causing difficulty to the fielder in making a throw, then that batsman can be declared out ‘obstructing the field’.

Jadeja became only the third player to be out due to field obstruction in IPL. Before him, Amit Mishra in 2019 and Yusuf Pathan in 2013 had also been out in this manner.

4. Ashwin took 50th wicket in Chennai
Ravichandran Ashwin of Rajasthan Royals took 2 wickets against Chennai. With this he completed 50 IPL wickets at Chepauk Stadium. He became the first player to take 50 wickets in Chepauk. He became only the sixth player to take fifty wickets at any one venue.

5. Virat played 250th IPL match
