Rats have now become a new headache for Pakistan which is facing economic crisis. The menace of rats in the Pakistani Parliament is not stopping. Rats have eaten important documents in the parliament of a neighboring country. To handle the situation and deal with the rat menace in the Parliament House, the Pak administration has decided to release predatory cats and lay traps. 12 lakh Pakistani rupees have also been allocated under this entire process.
According to Arab News reports, the number of rats in the Parliament of Pakistan is gradually increasing. Many important and confidential documents are being destroyed due to their influx. The two houses of Parliament – the National Assembly and the Senate – have equal status. Rats are biting not only documents but also computer cables. In such a situation, apart from releasing predatory cats in Parliament House, a plan has also been made to lay traps to catch rats. For this, help of private organizations is also being taken.(Rats threaten Sharif government)
The problem was first discovered when a government committee attempted to obtain the 2008 document. While looking at the documents, it was found that most of the papers had been eaten by rats. The number of rats is highest on the second floor of Parliament House. The office of the opposition leader is on this second floor; meetings of most political parties and parliamentary standing committees are also held there. Due to high crowd of people during the day, rats are rarely seen but at night rats hold ‘special sessions’ in the Parliament House.(Rats threaten Sharif government)
According to Arab News, Pakistan’s National Assembly spokesperson Zafar Sultan said that the size of rats in the Parliament House is so big that they can swallow even a cat. In the words of a National Assembly official, “When there are no people around after dusk, the rats start running as if they are running a marathon. The workers here are accustomed to it.
