Wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul met IPL team Lucknow Supergiants owner Sanjiv Goenka. It is being claimed that the Lucknow franchise wants to keep him with them for the next IPL. For which LSG can retain Rahul before the mega auction.

There will be a mega auction this year before IPL 2025, which may take place in December. It is believed that this time teams will be able to retain only 4 players. Rahul and Goenka met to decide which.

Both of them met in Kolkata
According to a Cricbuzz report, KL Rahul met Goenka at the franchise’s Kolkata office. The meeting took place in Goenka’s office, which is built on Judge Court Road, Alipore.

On May 8, Lucknow team lost against Sunrisers Hyderabad in just 10 overs. After which Goenka was seen shouting at Rahul. After this case, the first official meeting of both took place.

Meeting regarding player retention
Information about all the issues of the meeting could not be found, but Cricbuzz itself claimed that both of them held the meeting keeping in mind the mega auction to be held for the next IPL. In which it was also decided that the franchise would retain Rahul. However, whether Rahul wants to remain in Lucknow or not has not been revealed yet.

RCB showed interest in buying Rahul
Recently it was being said that Rahul can also make a comeback in his first IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). However, the truth of this claim has not been revealed yet.

Rahul played 3 seasons for Lucknow and captained him in all three. The team reached the playoffs twice, while the last time it was eliminated from the group stage itself. Rahul was recently seen playing the ODI series against Sri Lanka. He will now play for Team A under the captaincy of Shubman Gill in the Duleep Trophy.

Before Rahul’s meeting, there were reports that former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan would be the new mentor of Lucknow. He will work with head coach Justin Langer. Before Zaheer, Gautam Gambhir played the role of mentor of Lucknow in 2022 and 2023.
