T20 World Cup 2024 winning Indian team head coach Rahul Dravid is enjoying the Paris Olympics 2024 these days. He is encouraging the Indian athletes in the matches of different events. He had recently come to watch the men’s doubles match of tennis players Rohan Bopanna and Shriram Balaji, where the Indian pair lost and was eliminated. Former India’s legendary batsman Dravid’s tenure as head coach ended with the World Cup win. Dravid has given frank opinion regarding the inclusion of cricket in the Olympics. He said cricketers are extremely excited to be a part of these Games and have heard ‘talks in the dressing room’ about competing in the world’s biggest sporting event, the Maha Kumbh. Cricket has been included in the Olympics to be held in Los Angeles in 2028. Dravid is in Paris to participate in a panel discussion on ‘Cricket in the Olympics: The beginning of a new era’ in this regard.
The former Indian captain said, “I have heard serious discussions in the dressing room in this regard.” People are also discussing the 2028 Olympic Games along with the T20 World Cup to be held in 2026 and the ODI World Cup to be held in 2027. I have heard them saying that there is Olympics in 2028.” He said, ”Cricketers also want to win gold medals, stand on the podium, and want to be a part of the sports village, a big sporting event, and so on. Want to talk to all the players.
Dravid said, “I am sure that when the next Olympics is around the corner, cricketers will be preparing for it. They will take it seriously and the players will work hard to get there.” He said, ”We have grown up watching the Olympics. We saw Carl Lewis win the gold medal. Have seen great players perform. You always want to be a part of such great events. It really is a dream come true.”
Dravid said, “I have a dream of a great cricket tournament. I hope that the Indian men’s and women’s team will win gold medals. But I wish even more for everyone present here.
