This is Sindhu’s 18th win over Busanan.

Olympic medalist PV Sindhu made a spectacular comeback after the break and reached the final of Malaysia Masters Super 500 badminton tournament. Sindhu registered a spectacular come-from-behind win against Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the women’s singles in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

Sindhu won 13-21, 21-16, 21-12 against world number 20 Busanan in a marathon semi-final that lasted 88 minutes at the Axiata Arena. This is their 18th win over Busanan. Busanan had defeated Sindhu only once in her career, at the 2019 Hong Kong Open.

Sindhu won against Busanan in the semi-finals 13-21, 21-16, 21-12.

Defeated China’s Han Yu in the quarter finals
Sindhu, the fifth seed of the tournament, last won the title in the 2022 Singapore Open. She was the runner-up in Spain Masters last year. Sindhu defeated Han Yu of China 21-13, 14-21 and 21-12 in the quarter-finals played on Friday.

Pre-quarterfinal defeated Yoo Jin Sim
Earlier, in the pre-quarterfinals, Sindhu had won the ticket to the quarterfinals by defeating Korea’s Yoo Jin Sim, ranked 34th in the world, 21-13, 12-21, 21-14 in a match that lasted 59 minutes. She defeated Scotland’s Christy Gilmore in straight games in the first round of the tournament played in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday. He defeated Gilmore 21-17, 21-16.
