Indian sprinter Preeti Pal has won another medal in the Paris Paralympics. Preeti won bronze in the women’s 200m T35 category on Sunday. He achieved this feat with a personal best time of 30.01 seconds. His bronze is also India’s second para athletics medal in Paris. This is India’s sixth medal overall in Paralympics 2024.
Earlier, Preeti performed brilliantly on Friday to win bronze in the women’s 100m T35 race, India’s first athletics medal in a Paralympic track event. He won the bronze with a personal best time of 14.21 seconds. All the athletics medals that India has won since the 1984 edition of the Paralympics have come from field events.

Players who suffer from coordination disorders such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis participate in T35. Preeti, a farmer’s daughter from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at an early age. She initially trained in Meerut with high spirits and then moved to New Delhi to train on a synthetic track and this brought a huge change in her life.

After winning the second medal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Preeti. PM Modi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “Preeti Pal has achieved a historic achievement. Preeti won bronze in the women’s 200m T35 event, her second medal at the Paralympics 2024. He is an inspiration for the people of India. His dedication is amazing.”
