Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 17th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi on June 18. PM Modi will transfer installments of Rs 2,000 each to 9.3 crore farmers of the country from his parliamentary constituency Varanasi. In this, Rs 20 thousand crores will be transferred to the accounts of farmers.
Earlier on February 28, the 16th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was released. In this, more than Rs 21 thousand crores were transferred to the farmers. Under this scheme, the government transfers Rs 6000 to the farmers’ accounts every year in three installments of Rs 2 thousand each.
Farmers get 6 thousand rupees every year
Under this scheme, small and marginal farmers are given three installments of Rs 2,000 each in a year (total Rs 6,000). Under the scheme, the first installment is released between April-July, the second installment between August-November and the third installment between December-March. This scheme was started in 2019 to provide financial assistance to farmers.
Eligible beneficiaries of the scheme can also register themselves through Common Service Center (CSC). Apart from this, only the local Patwari, Revenue Officer and the nodal officer nominated by the state government for the scheme are registering the farmers.
All farmers get benefits under PM Kisan Yojana
Initially when the PM-Kisan scheme was launched (February, 2019), its benefits were only for the families of small and marginal farmers. This included those farmers who had combined land holding up to 2 hectares. In June 2019, the scheme was revised and extended to all farmer families. However, some farmers are still left out of the scheme.
Those excluded from PM Kisan include institutional land holders, farmer families holding constitutional positions, serving or retired officers and employees of the state or central government. It also includes officers and employees of public sector undertakings and government autonomous bodies. Apart from these, professionals like doctors, engineers and lawyers as well as retired pensioners with monthly pension of more than Rs 10,000 and those who paid income tax in the previous assessment year have also been excluded from this scheme.
