Indian athletes won a record 8 medals in the Paris Paralympics on Monday. On the sixth day, on September 3, gold medalist Avani Lekhara will participate in the qualification round of Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Position SH1 at the Paris Paralympics. Another Indian athlete Mona Agarwal will also be in action in the same event.
If Mona and Avni qualify for the finals, they will play the medal match at 7:30 pm. In Para-Athletics, Bhagyashree M Jadhav will play the final of women’s shot put F34 at 2:28 pm. Deepti Jeevanji will compete in the 400 meter T20 final at 10 pm.

2016 Rio Paralympics gold medalist Mariyappan Thangavelu will play in the T63 high jump final at 11:50 pm. Shailesh Kumar and Sharad Kumar will also participate in this event.

Suhas Yathiraj won the silver medal after Nitish Kumar won the gold in para badminton. Whereas in the women’s event, Thulasimathi Murugesan won the silver medal and Manisha Ramadoss won the bronze medal. Sumit won gold again
Sumit Antil, who won the javelin throw gold in Tokyo Paralympics, also won the gold medal in Paris. He broke his own record in the Paralympics and threw a distance of 70.59 meters in the second attempt. In Tokyo he had thrown a distance of 68.55 meters. He crossed this in the very first attempt by throwing a throw of 69.11 meters.

Archery mixed team won bronze medal
Mixed doubles pair of Rakesh Kumar and Sheetal Devi won the bronze medal in Para Archery. Both defeated the Italian pair by a close margin of 156-155. Rakesh and Sheetal have got the first medal in this Paralympics. Both had missed winning medals in their respective individual events.

Deepti reached the final of women’s 400 meters
Deepti Jiwanji made it to the final of the Women’s 400 meter T-20 category. He secured first position in the first race of Round-1 with a timing of 55.45 seconds. However, in the second race Turkey’s Aysel Onder qualified with a timing of 54.96 seconds. With this he also made a Paralympic and world record.
The world record of 400 meters in T-20 category was in the name of Deepti. On May 20 this year, he created a world record by completing the race in 55.07 seconds. The 400m final will be played on September 3 at 10:30 pm onwards.
Silver medal to Suhas Yathiraj
In the SL4 category, India’s Suhas Yathiraj lost the final, due to which he had to be content with the silver medal. He was defeated by Lucas Mazur of France 21-9, 21-13. Yathiraj had reached the final by defeating India’s Sukant Kadam in the semi-finals. Sukant lost against Freddy Setiawan of Indonesia 21-17, 21-18 in the bronze medal match. SL4 category includes those athletes who have difficulty walking with one or both legs.

Rakesh and Sheetal lost archery semi-final
India has to face defeat in the semi-finals of Archery. World number-1 mixed doubles pair of Rakesh Kumar and Sheetal Devi was defeated by the Iranian pair. After 4 ends the score remained equal at 152-152. In the tie-breaker, both teams scored 20 points each, but Irani Archer won as her shot was close to 10 points.
Murugesan lost the match in straight games
In the women’s SU5 category, India’s Thulasimathi Murugesan faced Qix Yang of China in the final. Yang won the first game 21–17. In the second game too, Yang applied pressure and took an 11-5 lead, winning the game 21-10 and taking the gold medal. Murugesan had to be content with silver.
On the other hand, India’s Manisha Ramdas won the bronze medal in the SU5 category. She won the bronze medal by defeating Denmark’s Katherine Rosengren in straight games by a margin of 21-12, 21-8. SU5 category includes those athletes who have deficiencies in their hands. That is, those players who have problems in their playing hand or the other hand.
Thulasimathi Murugesan was a contender to win gold in women’s badminton, but she lost the final.
India in semi-finals of para archery
India made it to the semi-finals in the mixed team event of Para Archery. The pair of Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar defeated Indonesia in the quarter-finals. India won the match against Indonesia by a margin of 154-143 and entered the semi-finals.

Nitish Kumar won the gold medal for India in the individual event of SL3 category of badminton. He won the match lasting 3 games against Daniel Bethel of Great Britain. Nitish won the first game by 21-14, Bethel won the second game by 18-21.
In the third game, the matter reached a tie of 21-21, here Nitish took 2 consecutive points and won the gold. Before Nitesh, Avani Lekhara had won gold in shooting. Nitesh plays in SL3 category. This category includes those athletes who have difficulty in walking. That is, those whose one or both legs are not normal.

India got silver medal in the high jump event of men’s T-47 category. Nishad Kumar jumped 2.04 meters and secured second position. World and Paralympic record holder Roderick Townsend of America won gold. He secured first position with a jump of 2.12 meters. Georgia’s Georgi Margiev got the bronze medal in the high jump event. His best jump was 2.00 metres.
Nishad won silver in T-47 category. This includes those athletes whose limbs below the elbow do not function. Athletes with similar disabilities or those whose legs do not function equally well. In the same event, India’s Ram Pal stood 7th, he made a best jump of 1.95 meters.

2. Preeti won medal with personal best time
Preeti won the bronze medal in the 200 meter women’s T-35 category race. He finished third with a personal best time of 30.01 metres. China’s Jia Zhou got gold medal and Qian Guo got silver medal.
Preeti also won bronze medal in 100 meter race. She is the first player to win 2 Paralympic medals for India in track events. Preeti plays in the T-35 category, which includes players who suffer from diseases like hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis.
