Paris Olympics Paralympics 2024 Players Honored
Amit Rohidas, a member of the Indian hockey team that won the bronze medal, was given a special award.
Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology on Sunday honored 17 players who participated in the Paris Olympics and Paralympics. These included 15 Olympians and 2 Paralympians. Olympic medalist hockey team members Amit Rohidas and Praveen Kumar were given special awards. Amit was part of the Indian hockey team that won the bronze, while para-shotputter Praveen Kumar won the gold medal.
Every player was given a prize money of Rs 7 lakh. Odisha’s runners Dutee Chand and Anuradha Biswal participated in the ceremony. Founder of the university, Dr. Achyut Samant said that a total of 20 Olympians and 2 Paralympians have emerged from the institute. Of these, 7 players have been honored with the Arjun Award.
The university has honored 15 Olympians and 2 Paralympians.
Medalists of South Asian Championship and State Weightlifting Championship were also honored in the ceremony.
they were honored Amit Rohidas (hockey), Kishore Kumar Jena (javelin throw), Annu Rani (javelin throw), Tajinderpal Singh Toor (shot put), Parul Chaudhary (5000 m steeplechase), Jyoti Yaraji (100 m hurdles), Priyanka (20 km race Walk), Prachi and MR Poovamma (4x400m relay), Paramjit Singh Bisht, Akshdeep Singh and Vikas Singh (20km race walk), Ankita (5000m race), Rampal and Praveen Kumar (para-athletes in high jump).
India won 6 medals in Olympics and 29 medals in Paralympics. Indian players have won 6 medals including one silver in the Olympic Games held in Paris. Whereas in the Paralympic Games, India has got a total of 29 medals including 7 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze.
