Double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker is returning to India today. Manu Bhakar, a resident of Jhajjar, Haryana, created history and won two medals in the Paris Olympics. Manu had won bronze in the Women’s Individual 10 meter Air Pistol and in the mixed event along with Sarabjot Singh. She is the first Indian to win two medals in the same Olympics.
Will be the flag bearer of India in the closing ceremony
Manu will be India’s flag bearer in the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics. An Indian Olympic Association (IOA) official recently told PTI, yes Manu has been chosen as the flag bearer. She has performed brilliantly and deserves this honour.
Finished fourth in 25 meter pistol event
Manu missed a medal in the 25 meter pistol event at the Paris Olympics. She finished fourth in the women’s 25 meter pistol event. She was eliminated after losing in the shootoff for the third position with Veronika of Hungary. In 8 series, Manu managed to make 5 out of 5 shots only once. He made 28 shots out of 40. With this, his dream of winning a hat-trick of medals in the Paris Olympics remained unfulfilled.

Why did Manu want to leave shooting after Olympics?
There was a time when Manu Bhakar wanted to leave shooting. Manu was in the qualifying round for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Then his pistol got damaged. Due to which she was out of the final race. After this Manu decided to leave shooting. Then his father Ramkishan Bhakar and mother Sumedha Bhakar motivated him.
India ranked 57th in medal tally with 3 bronze
India is at 57th position with 3 medals. Manu Bhaker won the women’s individual 10m air pistol event, the pair of Manu and Sarabjot Singh won bronze medals for India in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Also, Swapnil Kusale won bronze in 50 meter rifle three positions.
