Arshad Nadeem was born in 1997 in Khanewal village of Punjab, Pakistan. His father works as a labourer. In such a situation, he had to struggle to support his large family of 7 children.
Arshad’s father Muhammad Ashraf told the media that people have no idea how Arshad reached here. People collected money for Nadeem’s training. This support from the community was very important for Nadeem, because in the initial days he did not have the necessary money to travel and train in other cities.
He also told that due to financial constraints, Arshad had to practice with an old spear. This spear was also damaged and he could not buy a new spear of international level for many years. Continued practicing with the damaged spear.
According to Arshad’s elder brother Shahid Azim, he was able to buy meat only once a year during Eid-ul-Azha.

In 2016, he won a bronze medal at the South Asian Games in India with a national record throw of 78.33 metres. Arshad Nadeem had secured fifth place in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by throwing the javelin 86.62 meters. Earlier, Nadeem’s career best throw was 90.18 meters. He became the first Asian player to cross the 90 meter mark.
