After increasing the platform charge of online food delivery platform Zomato, Swiggy has also increased it. Now ordering food from Swiggy has also become a little more expensive. First, Zomato increased the flatform charge from Rs 5 to Rs 6. After this Swiggy also increased its price by 20 percent. Now customers of both the companies will have to pay a platform fee of Rs 6 on every order.

According to NDTV report, companies Zomato and Swiggy have increased their platform fees for markets like Bengaluru and Delhi. Even three months ago, both the companies had increased the platform fee to Rs 5.

CEO Deepinder Singh Goyal became a billionaire as Zomato increased its platform fees.

Why increased platform fees

Zomato and Swiggy companies have taken this decision to increase profitability. Both the companies started charging platform fees last year. Initially, both these food delivery apps used to charge a platform fee of Rs 2. Later it was increased to Rs 3 and then to Rs 4. After this it was increased to Rs 5 and now it has been increased by Re 1 to Rs 6.

Zomato CEO joins billionaire club

Zomato shares reached new all-time high today. After opening at Rs 225 in the morning, it reached an all-time high of Rs 232. It has given returns of more than 8% in the last 5 days. This stock has soared by 20 percent in one month, 70 percent in six months and more than 83 percent so far this year. Zomato CEO has joined the billionaire club due to the rise in shares and increase in platform charges. The market cap of his company has reached Rs 1.98 lakh crore. At the same time, Swiggy has not entered the stock market.
