India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra threw the best throw of the season at the Lausanne Diamond League 2024 in Switzerland on Friday (August 23). He threw 89.49 meters in his last attempt. However, he could not throw above 90 meters.

Neeraj finished second with his season best throw in the Lausanne Diamond League. Neeraj has qualified for the finals by finishing in the top six in the Diamond League Meeting Series table. With this throw, Neeraj left behind his own throw of 89.45 meters in the Paris Olympics. Neeraj had won the silver medal in the Olympics.

Neeraj could not even reach 85 meters in the first four throws. His first throw was 82.10 metres, second throw was 83.21 metres, third throw was 83.31 metres, fourth throw was 82.34 metres. In his fifth throw, Neeraj threw the javelin 85.58 meters. Neeraj reached 89.49 meters in his last throw.

Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan had won the gold medal. He had created an Olympic record by throwing the javelin 92.97 meters. Arshad had thrown 2 out of 6 throws more than 90. Grenada’s Anderson Peters (88.54 m) got bronze.

Neeraj has become the third Indian player to win medals in two consecutive Olympics. Before Neeraj, wrestler Sushil Kumar and badminton player PV Sindhu had won medals in two consecutive Olympics.
