A blade was found in the food of a passenger on an Air India international flight. The passenger himself gave this information by sharing a post on social media platform X.
After this post, on Sunday, June 16, Air India issued a statement accepting the fact that blades were found in the passenger’s food and apologized.
Metal piece found in sweet potato and fig chaat
Actually, a passenger named Mathures Paul was going from Bengaluru to San Francisco by Air India flight. On June 10, Paul shared two photos of the blade found in food on an Air India flight on X.
Paul shared the photos and wrote in the post, ‘Air India’s food can cut like a knife. A piece of metal was found in the roasted sweet potato and fig chaat, which looked like a blade. I realized this only after chewing the food for a few seconds. Thankfully, I was not harmed.
Of course, the blame lies entirely on Air India’s catering service. What if a piece of metal was in food served to a child? The first photo shows the piece of metal that I spit out and the second photo shows the food that was served to me.
Air India’s Chief Customer Experience Officer apologized
After this passenger’s post, on June 16, Air India’s Chief Customer Experience Officer Rajesh Dogra said, ‘Dear Mr. Paul, we are extremely sorry to know about this. This does not reflect the level of service we want to provide to our passengers.
Please message us your booking details along with your seat number. We will ensure that this matter is promptly reviewed and resolved.
‘Worked on strengthening measures to prevent such incidents’
Air India has confirmed that a foreign object was found in the food of a passenger on board one of our flights. After investigation, it was found that it had come from the vegetable processing machine used at our catering partner.
We have worked closely with our catering partners to strengthen measures to prevent any such incidents. This includes checking the processor several times, especially after chopping a hard vegetable.’
