India’s Lovlina Borgohain was eliminated from the quarter-finals of the women’s boxing 75 kg event of the Paris Olympics after losing 1-4 to China’s Li Qian on Sunday. Qian had won a silver medal in the 75 kg category in the Tokyo Olympics. Earlier, Lovlina had won a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics but this time she could not progress beyond the quarter-finals. Lovlina had a golden opportunity to create history, if she had succeeded in winning the medal this time, she would have become the first Indian boxer to win two Olympic medals in boxing.
