Anita Goyal, wife of Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal, has passed away in Mumbai. She was battling cancer for a long time. During treatment, he breathed his last at 3 am on Thursday in a hospital in Mumbai. According to media reports, the last rites of Anita Goyal will be performed in Mumbai today.

On May 6, the Bombay High Court had granted interim bail of 2 months to Naresh Goyal on medical and humanitarian grounds in the money laundering case. In the Goyal family, after Anita Goyal, there is her husband and two children Namrata and Nivan Goyal. Naresh Goyal is also suffering from cancer.

Anita Goyal was associated with the operations of Jet Airways
Anita Goyal was associated with the operations of Jet Airways and was the Executive Vice President. In 2015, she became non-executive vice president, but remained on the board of directors.

Anita Goyal was also accused in money laundering case
In November 2023, ED also arrested Goyal’s wife Anita in a money laundering case. However, based on his age and health condition the court immediately granted him bail.

Naresh Goyal started crying in the court
On January 6 this year, during the hearing of his bail plea, Goyal started crying in the PLMA Special Court in Mumbai. Then he told the court, ‘I have lost hope of life. My health has deteriorated greatly. It would be better to die in jail. I miss my wife a lot. He is in the last stage of cancer.

Jet Airways is closed since April 2019
Jet Airways was once one of the largest private airlines in India and had the status of the largest private airline in South Asian countries. Then, due to being burdened with debt, Jet Airways was grounded (ceased operations) on 17 April 2019.

At that time, Jet Airways had an outstanding loan of Rs 538.62 crore from Canara Bank. Jet Airways had taken credit limit and loan of Rs 848.86 crore. Three years later, in 2021, Canara Bank had alleged that the forensic audit of Jet Airways had found that Jet had transferred Rs 1,410.41 crore to its associated companies. This was done to withdraw money from the company’s account.

The Goyal family was accused of all their personal expenses, such as staff salaries, phone bills and vehicle expenses, from the Jet Airways account.
