Current situation of points table….

DC dependent on other teams, almost impossible to reach Lucknow
On Tuesday, Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 19 runs in the 64th match of IPL-2024. With this, all 14 matches of Delhi were completed and the team got 2 points.

  • Delhi Capitals had 14 points in 14 matches with 7 wins and 7 losses. The team is in 5th place due to poor run rate. To reach the playoffs, CSK will have to win against RCB, so that RCB does not reach 14 points. Whereas, MI will have to defeat LSG. After this, to reach fourth position in Delhi, SRH will have to lose by 194 runs while chasing 200 runs in both their remaining matches. The total margin of defeat in both the matches should be 194 runs. For example, if SRH lost by 94 runs in the first match while chasing 200 runs and then again lost by 100 runs in the next match while chasing 200 runs, then only Delhi will be able to come up.
  • Lucknow’s run rate is the worst in the league after Gujarat. After 13 matches, the team has 12 points after 6 wins and 7 losses. To qualify, Lucknow will have to win by a margin of around 150+ runs which is very difficult.

Today Rajasthan has a chance to strengthen its position in the top-2.
Rajasthan Royals qualified for the playoffs with Delhi’s win. Today the team’s match is against Punjab Kings. If the team wins by a big margin, it can consolidate its place in the top-2. Apart from RR, only SRH has a chance to be in the top-2. SRH has 14 points and has a chance to get 4 points i.e. 2 matches. The advantage of coming in the top-2 is that these teams get 2 chances to enter the finals.
