Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudarshan continued playing IPL for 3 years at a base price of Rs 20 lakh. He has scored 1034 runs in 25 matches.

A team plays 14 league matches in IPL

India’s franchise tournament IPL is being played since 2008. The 17th season of the league was played between 10 teams in 2024, with one team playing 14 matches in the league stage. Including playoff matches, teams also play 15 to 17 matches.(IPL Players to get Match fees)

Players who play all the matches in the league stage will get a match fee of Rs 1.05 crore for 14 matches. Whereas, you will get Rs 1.12 crore for playing 15 matches, Rs 1.20 crore for playing 16 matches and Rs 1.27 crore for playing 17 matches. That is, if the league’s most expensive player Mitchell Starc plays all the matches for KKR, then at the end of the season the franchise will pay him Rs 26.03 crore.(IPL Players to get Match fees)

Mitchell Starc is the most expensive player in IPL history. He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 24.75 crore.

Why was this done?

It is believed that this is being done to make domestic cricketers who are sold at low prices financially strong. Because many teams, after buying domestic players, play very few matches for them. In such a situation, if a player plays 2 or 3 matches, he will get Rs 15 to 22 lakh separately in addition to his salary.

However, match fees will be given to all players. That means even millionaire players will get the benefit of match fees, this will inspire big players to play more and more matches. Due to which the level of the league will also be maintained.(IPL Players to get Match fees)

IPL winning prize Rs 20 crore

In the example we saw that if Mitchell Starc played the entire season, he would get Rs 26.03 crore. Which will be Rs 6.03 crore more than the winning prize of IPL. In IPL, the winner is given Rs 20 crore and the runner-up is given Rs 13 crore.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL 2024 title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad.
