Zaheer Khan is currently the Global Head of Player Development of Mumbai Indians.
Former Indian team fast bowler Zaheer Khan can join the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team before IPL 2025. He can be given the responsibility of team mentor.
Before IPL 2024, Gautam Gambhir left LSG and went to Kolkata Knight Riders. After which the seat of mentor of Lucknow is vacant. According to reports, the Lucknow team is in talks with the fast bowler for the role of mentor. If all goes well then Zaheer can become a part of LSG team.
Gautam Gambhir had left Lucknow Super Giants and joined Kolkata Knight Riders before IPL 2024. Recently he has been appointed the head coach of Team India.
Why Zaheer is the first choice?
According to reports, Zaheer Khan is the first choice of the team management, because the team’s bowling coach Morne Morkel can join Team India as a bowling coach. In such a situation, the fast bowlers of the team can benefit from the experience of Zaheer Khan.
Zaheer Khan has been a part of the team management of Mumbai Indians for a long time. After being the bowling coach, he has been the Director of Cricket of Mumbai team. From 2022, he is the Global Head of Player Development of MI. He has been playing this role for two years.
He will have to work with Justin Langer in LSG
If Zaheer Khan joins LSG he will work closely with head coach Justin Langer as well as other coaching staff like Adam Voges, Lance Klusener and Jonty Rhodes.
