Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was banned for one match on Friday for slow over-rate in three matches of this IPL season. This decision was taken after the match played between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants on Friday.
However, Mumbai Indians do not have a single match left in this season. She is already out of the play-off race. In such a situation, Hardik Pandya will not play in his first match of the next season. Also, other players of the team including the impact player will have to pay Rs 12 lakh or 50 percent of the match fee. Whatever is less among these will have to be given to the players of Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai Indians have been fined for slow over rate for the third time this season.
Actually, Mumbai had slow overs against Lucknow Super Giants on 17 May, against Lucknow Super Giants on 30 May and against Punjab Kings on 18 April. Because of this, Hardik Pandya was found guilty of violating the IPL Code of Conduct as captain.
Hardik fined 3 times in 3 matches
A fine of Rs 30 lakh was imposed against Lucknow Super Giants.
A fine of Rs 24 lakh was imposed against Lucknow Super Giants.
A fine of Rs 12 lakh was imposed against Punjab Kings.
Now understand the rule of fine for slow over rate in IPL
Under the IPL code of conduct related to slow over rate, if the captain of a team is found guilty for the first time, then he faces a fine of Rs 12 lakh. If that captain commits a slow over rate offense for the second time in the season, a fine of Rs 24 lakh is imposed. If the mistake is made for the third time, the captain is banned for one match and fined Rs 30 lakh.
Pant has also been banned for one match
Due to slow over rate thrice in this season of IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has also been banned for one match and fined Rs 30 lakh. He did not play in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 12 May. Click here to read the complete news.
