IndiGo airlines: Private sector airline IndiGo has begun discussions with aircraft manufacturers to purchase 100 small aircraft to expand its presence on regional routes. IndiGo, which recently ordered 30 large-sized A350 aircraft, is currently preparing to expand domestic and international operations.

A source in news agency PTI said that IndiGo plans to buy 100 small aircraft and is in discussion with aircraft manufacturers like ATR and Embraer in this regard. Although a final decision is yet to be taken, the airline’s broad plan is to place a firm order for 50 aircraft and have an option to purchase another 50 aircraft. There has been no comment from Indigo in this regard. Let us tell you that Indigo currently has an operational fleet of 355 aircraft. Apart from 45 ATRs, there are 193 A320 Neo, 20 A320 CEO, 94 A321 and three A321 cargo planes.
Order for 500 aircraft was given last year
In June last year, the airline had placed an order for 500 aircraft with aircraft manufacturer Airbus, which is the largest single aircraft order for any airline so far. IndiGo Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Elbers had said in April that an ambitious target has been set to double the size of the airline by 2030.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, investors fell on the shares of this company. The share closed at Rs 4148.45 on the second trading day of the week. The stock closed 1.59% higher than a day earlier. On May 3, the share had reached the level of Rs 4,188.15.
