Australian captain Pat Cummins is desperate to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Australian Test captain Pat Cummins believes that there will be an equal contest between India and Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. There is a 50-50 contest between the two teams.
The Border-Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India starts from 22nd November. This time the Indian team has a chance to defeat Australia at home for the third consecutive time. Earlier, Team India had won the series of 2018 and 2021.
Australia would like to avoid losing the Test series to India for the third consecutive time at home.
It’s time to change the record
Pat Cummins told Star Sports, ‘The most recent Test match was definitely the World Test Championship in neutral conditions, and we came out on top in that match. It’s always extremely competitive, and it always feels like it’s 50-50. I am 10 out of 10 excited for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Cummins further said, ‘We have not been successful in the last two series in Australia, so it has been a long time. Hopefully now is the time to make improvements. You know, we have played against them many times where they have beaten us, but we have also had many wins against them, so that will give us confidence.
Australia has not been able to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the last four times.
Cummins is desperate to win the series
Earlier, regarding the Test series against India, Cummins had said, ‘This is a trophy which I have not won before. This is a trophy which not many players in our group have been able to win. We have achieved great things as a test group over the last few years. You try to win every series at home.”
Australia won WTC, but waiting for series win from India
Australia, under the captaincy of Pat Cummins, had captured the World Test Championship trophy by defeating India in 2023. But the Kangaroo team could not defeat India in any test series since 2014-15. In 2014, the team won the series 2-1 under the captaincy of Smith. Since then there have been 4 series, all four of which India won by a margin of 2-1. During this period, India’s captains were Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma.
Test series will start from 22nd November
The 5 Test series between India and Australia will start from November 22 this year. The first test will be held in Perth. The second Test will be played in Adelaide, the third Test in Brisbane, the fourth Test in Melbourne and the fifth Test in Sydney from January 3.
