Jos Buttler scored his 23rd half-century in T-20 International.

Thanks to England captain Jos Buttler’s inning of 84 runs in 51 balls, England defeated Pakistan by 23 runs in the second match of the four-match T-20 series.

On Friday, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl at the Birmingham ground. England batted and scored 183 runs for 7 wickets. In reply, Pakistan was reduced to 160 runs in 19.2 overs.

Apart from Jos Buttler’s half-century, Will Jacques played an inning of 37 runs. At the same time, bowler Reece Topley took 3 wickets and Joffra Archer, who was returning after 385 days, took 2 wickets.

For Pakistan, Fakhar Zaman scored the highest score of 45 runs in 21 balls. Whereas, Shahin Shah Afridi took 3 wickets.

The first match was washed out due to rain. England has taken a 1-0 lead in the series.

Bad start for England, Jacques-Butler’s half-century
England’s in-form opener Phil Salt was out after scoring just 13 runs. The first wicket fell at 25 runs. After this, the power-packed pair of Will Jacques and Jos Buttler took the innings forward. Buttler and Jaques put on a 71-run partnership to take England to 96/1 after 10 overs.

After this, there was a partnership of 48 runs between Jonny Bairstow and Butler. Bairstow scored 21 runs in 18 balls with the help of one four and two sixes.

England’s batsmen could not hit big hits in the last overs, and the team’s wickets have fallen. Butler was out on Haris’s bowling after scoring 84 runs in 51 balls with the help of eight fours and three sixes. Pakistan bowlers made a strong comeback and restricted England to 183/7 in 20 overs.

Shaheen Afridi scored 9 runs and got the last wicket in the form of Mohammad Amir. Haris Rauf remained unbeaten after scoring 3 runs. The team was all out for 160 runs in 19.2 overs.

Reece Topley took the most wickets for England. He got 3 successes. Apart from this, Joffra Archer and Moeen Ali got 2-2 wickets. Whereas, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid and Liam Livingston got 1-1 success.

Archer returned to professional cricket after a year. He played his last match for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023.
