Indian wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Karthik has announced his retirement from cricket. Karthik turned 39 today i.e. on 1st June, on this occasion he announced his retirement through a social media post. He also shared a video along with the retirement note. This video includes photos of important moments of Karthik’s career.

Karthik wrote in his post- I am overwhelmed by the affection, support and love I have received in the last few days. I express my deepest gratitude to all the fans who have made this feeling possible.

After thinking about it a lot for some time, I have decided to retire from playing representative cricket. I officially announce my retirement and am leaving my playing days behind and getting ready for the new challenges ahead.

Karthik had announced his retirement from the Indian League immediately after the IPL this year.

Won 2 ICC trophies in career
Dinesh Karthik has won 2 ICC trophies with India. This includes the 2007 T-20 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. Karthik has played 26 Tests, 94 ODIs and 60 T-20 International matches for India. Along with the ICC Trophy, Karthik has also won the Asia Cup with India in the years 2010 and 2018.

Karthik played his last international match for India in the T20 World Cup against Bangladesh in the year 2022.

Karthik won an IPL trophy
Karthik is among the few players to have played all the IPL seasons so far. He played 257 matches in this league and scored 4,842 runs at an average of 26.32. Apart from RCB, Karthik also played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Daredevils, Gujarat Lions and Kings XI Punjab. ​​He won the only IPL trophy in 2013 while staying with Mumbai Indians.
