In the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) on Thursday, Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 35 runs. Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill both scored centuries from Gujarat. Both of them made the biggest opening partnership of 210 runs. The team scored 231 runs, which is the highest IPL score against Chennai.

1. Scored 2 centuries for the third time in an IPL innings.
Sai Sudarshan and Shubman Gill both scored centuries from Gujarat, Sudarshan scored 103 and Shubman scored 104 runs. This happened for the first time in IPL when two players from Gujarat scored centuries in the same innings. Earlier only SRH and RCB players could do this. Jonny Bairstow and David Warner from Hyderabad and Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers from Bengaluru scored centuries in the same innings.
2. Highest score against CSK
Gujarat Titans scored 231 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs. This was equal to the highest score against Chennai, before this Punjab Kings had scored only 231 runs on the Cuttack ground in 2014.
3. Gujarat made its second highest score
Gujarat Titans made their second highest score. Earlier in 2023 also, the team had scored 233 runs against Mumbai Indians on their own home ground. This score was made in Qualifier-2.
4. Shubman scored his fourth century in Ahmedabad
Gujarat’s Shubman Gill, who won the Orange Cap in 2023, scored his first century this season. This was the fourth century of his IPL career, he scored all four in Ahmedabad itself. He equaled Virat Kohli among the Indians who have scored the most T20 centuries on one ground. Virat has scored 4 centuries in Bengaluru.
5. Shubman-Sudarshan made the biggest opening partnership
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan made a partnership of 210 runs for the first wicket. This was equal to the biggest opening partnership in IPL. Earlier, Lucknow’s Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul had also made an opening partnership of 210 runs against Kolkata.
6. The biggest partnership happened for Gujarat
The partnership of Sudarshan and Shubman was the biggest partnership for any wicket from Gujarat. Earlier, both of them had made a partnership of 147 runs against Hyderabad. Shubman was included in the top-5 partnerships from Gujarat every time.
7. Scored a record 14 centuries in the season
Including the centuries of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan, now a total of 14 centuries have been scored in the tournament. This is the record for most centuries in a season. Earlier in 2023, 12 centuries were scored.
8. Sudarshan became the fastest Indian to score 1000 runs
Sai Sudarshan also completed 1000 runs in IPL with his century. For this he took just 25 innings and became the fastest Indian to score 1000 IPL runs. Sudarshan broke the record of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sachin Tendulkar, both of whom had completed 1000 runs after 31-31 innings.
