Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz has reached the Wimbledon men’s singles final for the second consecutive time. World number-3 tennis player Alcaraz defeated world number-5 Daniil Medvedev in the semi-final match played on the Center Court of London on Friday. In a match that lasted for about 3 hours, Alcaraz defeated Medvedev 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.
Team India captain Rohit Sharma had come to watch the match.
Reached the semi-finals by defeating America’s Tommy Paul
Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz won against America’s Tommy Paul in the semi-finals. He defeated Paul 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2. After losing the first set 5–7, defending champion Alcaraz came back and won all three consecutive sets to win the match.

Won first Grand Slam in 2022, also became world number-1
2022 was the year of Alcaraz. He entered the Australian Open for the first time with the 31st seed. He lost in the third round itself, but won four ATP titles including Miami, Madrid, Rio and Conde Godo Open. In the same year, in the US Open final, he defeated world number-5 Caspar Ruud by a margin of 4-6, 6-2, 7-6, 6-3 and won his first Grand Slam. He ended the year as world number-1 and continued the same form in 2023 and now won the Wimbledon final. Alcaraz won the French Open title this year by defeating Alexander Zverev.
Who is Alcaraz?
Carlos was born on 5 May 2003 in Spain. Carlos started playing tennis at the age of 4. He got inspiration for this from his father Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez, who was counted among the top-40 tennis players of Spain. Alcaraz’s coach is former top-seeded player Juan Carlos Ferrero. It was under his guidance that Carlos started playing professional tennis at the age of 15. Alcaraz is one of the few players in tennis history who did not lose in the first round of his debut Grand Slam.
