The Indian women’s team has won gold in the compound archery World Cup Stage-2 going on in Yecheon, South Korea. Silver medal was won in the mixed team.

The Indian team defeated Turkey in the women’s final held on Saturday. While the mixed team had to face defeat from America.

In the women’s final, the Indian trio of Jyoti Surekha Vennam, Preneet Kaur and Aditi Swamy defeated Turkey’s trio of Hazal Burun, Ayse Bera Suzar and Begum 232-226.

Indian trio’s third consecutive gold in the World Cup
This is the Indian trio’s third consecutive gold in the World Cup. Earlier this trio had won gold by defeating Italy in the World Cup Stage-1 held in Shanghai earlier this year. Before this, he had also won gold in the World Cup Stage-4 held in Paris last year.

The trio of Preneet Kaur, Surekha Vennam and Aditi Swamy have won gold in the World Cup for the third consecutive time.

USA was defeated in the semi-finals
Earlier in the semi-finals, the Indian women’s team had defeated world number four team USA by 233-229. Turkey had secured its place in the final by defeating South Korea 234-233.
It was an easy journey for the Indian women’s team. The team got a bye into the quarters after finishing second in the qualifying round. They had defeated Italy 236-234 in the last eight.

Silver medal for India’s mixed team
India got silver medal in mixed team. The pair of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Priyansh had to face defeat by the American pair of Olivia Dean and Sawyer Sullivan in the final of Compound Mixed. With this the Indian pair had to be satisfied with silver.
Earlier on Friday, the Indian pair lost only 2 points out of 16 targets in the semi-finals. They had defeated South Korea’s pair of Han Seungyeon and Yang Jaewon 158-157.

Medal hopes remain intact in compound men’s singles
Young compound archer Prathamesh Phuge is also hoping for a medal by reaching the semi-finals in the individual category.
