Another blow of inflation, now CNG prices have increased, check rate list

The price of CNG in the national capital and surrounding cities was increased by Re 1 per kilogram on Saturday. This price increase has been made after the supply of subsidized natural gas has decreased. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), a company that retails CNG to automobiles and piped cooking gas to households in Delhi and surrounding cities, announced the rate hike on its website.

how much price in delhi

The price of CNG in Delhi has increased from Rs 74.09 to Rs 75.09 per kg, while in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad the rate has increased from Rs 78.70 to Rs 79.70 per kg. However, there was no change in the prices of piped domestic gas. IGL did not give a reason for the increase. However, sources say that after the decline in domestic supply, the company is now having to buy more imported gas. Natural gas extracted from land and seabed is converted into CNG to run vehicles. But the supply from ONGC’s domestic fields has not kept up with the demand for CNG.

Gas sourced from ONGC fields accounts for 66-67 per cent of IGL’s CNG demand. The remaining gas has to be imported. Sources said that priority has been given to domestic gas supply for domestic gas (PNG), hence no increase has been made in this segment.

However, there is no change in CNG prices in Gurugram, as the service here is provided by a different company. Other city gas retailers have not announced any changes in prices yet.
