The T20 World Cup started with the match played between Canada and America at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. After a good start in the powerplay, Canada’s first wicket fell in the 6th over. In the first match of the T20 World Cup, America chased its biggest target of 195 runs against Canada. The team completed the target in 17.4 overs. This is the third biggest chase in the T20 World Cup. Earlier in 2016, England had chased the target of 230 runs against South Africa and in 2007, South Africa had chased the target of 206 runs against West Indies.
2. Second highest number of runs scored in one over in T-20 World Cup
33 runs were scored in the 14th over of America’s innings. Canada’s Jeremy Gordon bowled three wides and two no balls in this over. This was the second most expensive over in the history of the World Cup. Earlier in 2007, Stuart Broad of England had given 36 runs in one over against India.
3. America’s biggest partnership in T-20 International
The biggest partnership of 131 runs for America in T-20 International was between Andres Gaus and Aaron Jones. Earlier, Modani and Gajanand Singh had made a partnership of 110 runs against Ireland.
