Ajinkya Rahane close to century in Irani Cup
Ajinkya Rahane from Mumbai remained not out on the first day after scoring 86 runs.
Mumbai has made a strong hold on the first day of India’s domestic tournament Irani Cup. By the end of the first day’s play, the team had scored 237 runs after losing 4 wickets. Captain Ajinkya Rahane remained not out after scoring 86 runs and Sarfaraz Khan remained not out after scoring 54 runs.
Shreyas Iyer from Mumbai played an inning of 57 runs. Mukesh Kumar from Rest of India took maximum 3 wickets. In the Irani Cup, last season’s Ranji Trophy champion Mumbai is facing Rest of India i.e. the team of the rest of India’s top domestic players.
Bad start for Mumbai On Tuesday, Mumbai lost the toss and batted first at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The start was very bad and the team lost 2 wickets at the score of 6 runs. Prithvi Shaw 4 and Hardik Tamore were caught out without opening the account. Mukesh Kumar sent both of them to the pavilion. Mukesh then got opener Ayush Mhatre caught behind by Dhruv Jurel. Ayush scored 19 runs on 35 balls with the help of 3 fours.

Rahane-Shreyas made century partnership After the early fall of 3 wickets, captain Ajinkya Rahane along with Shreyas Iyer took charge of Mumbai. Both completed their respective fifties and also made a century partnership for the fourth wicket. Shreyas had made fifty, when he was caught out by Yash Dayal in the 40th over. Shreyas was out after scoring 57 runs.
Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer made a partnership of 102 runs.
Rahane-Sarfaraz stayed till the end After Iyer’s wicket, Sarfaraz Khan came out to bat. He also supported the captain and took the team beyond 200 runs. Only 68 overs could be bowled till the third session on the first day and the umpires had to stop the game due to bad light.
The game could not be restarted again, Mumbai has scored 237 runs after losing 4 wickets. From the team, Rahane is not out on the score of 86 and Sarfaraz is not out on the score of 54 runs. The second day’s play will start at 9:30 am on Tuesday.
