Fights between husband and wife are a common occurrence, but sometimes these fights can reach such a serious stage that the matter reaches police stations. Generally, in these types of cases, there are big and serious reasons due to which people take refuge in the law. However, recently a strange incident has come to light, in which, due to a trivial and almost ridiculous reason, the wife approached the Karnataka High Court with a complaint against her husband.
Recently, a strange case has come to light in Bangalore which has shocked even the legal world. Here a woman has filed a police complaint against her husband under domestic violence, but the reason behind it is quite unusual. The woman alleged that her husband did not allow her to eat French fries.
The woman says that her husband advised her not to eat French fries as a nutritious diet during pregnancy, due to which she got angry and filed a case under domestic violence. The woman claims that her husband stopped her from eating French fries made from Bangladesh potatoes, due to which she lodged a complaint at the police station.
The matter also reached the Karnataka High Court, where the husband termed the allegations made by the wife as baseless and demanded quashing of the case. Justice M. Nagaprasanna said during the hearing of this case that it is not appropriate to register a case in such cases. The Justice remarked that if the husband, keeping in mind his wife’s health, prevents her from eating certain food items, then it is unfair to file a case of domestic violence against him.
The court ruled in favor of the woman’s husband and ordered all charges to be stayed. Justice Nagaprasanna also said that it is not right to knock on the door of the police station for such trivial reasons.
