1. First Indian female wrestler to reach the Olympic finals
Vinesh Phogat played 3 matches in 50 kg weight category on Tuesday. In the pre-quarterfinals she defeated Tokyo Olympic champion Yui Susaki. According to Indian Olympic team doctor Dinshaw Pardiwala, the team had only 12 hours to bring Vinesh’s weight back to 50KG. Vinesh filed an appeal against her disqualification on Wednesday night before announcing her retirement. They demanded from the Court of Arbitration for Sports that they should be jointly awarded the silver medal. Vinesh had also demanded to play the final first. Then they changed their appeal and now jointly demanded to be given silver.

6. Appeal rejected on 14 August
On August 14, the Court of Arbitration for Sports had rejected Vinesh Phogat’s petition. Vinesh Phogat had filed a petition demanding a silver medal.
