The first match of the ODI series between India and Sri Lanka was tied. Now the remaining 2 matches became necessary for the result of the ODI series. The second ODI will be played on 4th August in Colombo itself. India won the T-20 series 3-0.
In a thrilling match on Friday, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat. The team scored 230 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. India could score only 230 runs in 47.5 overs. The team needed 1 run from 15 balls, India had 2 wickets left. Here Sri Lankan captain Charith Asalanka took 2 consecutive wickets and restricted India to 230 runs.

1.Siraj dropped the catch
Pathum Nissanka played an innings of 56 runs on 75 balls.
Siraj gave life to Nissanka in the 8th over. Here Pathum Nissanka flicked an overpitch ball on the leg stump of Arshdeep Singh. The ball went towards fine leg where the standing Siraj tried to catch the ball by diving forward but could not catch it. At this time Nissanka was batting on 20 runs.
2. Dubey took the first wicket of his ODI career
Shivam Dubey took 1 wicket for 19 runs in 4 overs.
Indian all-rounder Shivam Dubey took the first wicket of his career by dismissing Kusal Mendis. Kusal tried to defend on the first ball of the 13th over. The ball came out slightly. Here Kusal was out LBW. He played an inning of 14 runs.
3. Indian players came on the field wearing black bands
After the demise of former Indian cricketer Anshuman Gaikwad, today all the Indian players came out wearing black armbands.
Anshuman Gaikwad, former Indian cricketer and head coach of Team India, died late on Wednesday night at the age of 71. He was suffering from blood cancer for a long time. Because of which today all the Indian players came to play the match wearing black bands.
4. Umpire gave the decision very late
Akshar dismissed Janith Liyange for 20 runs.
Akshar was bowling in the 35th over of the Sri Lankan innings. On the second ball of the over, Janith Liyange moved forward and wanted to play a big shot. Here the ball came very close to the bat. The Indian fielders appealed and Liyange started returning to the pavilion without the umpire’s decision. Finally the umpire gave out.
5. Rohit dropped the catch
Hasaranga played an inning of 24 runs.
Captain Rohit Sharma, standing in the slip, dropped the catch on the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav, who was bowling the 38th over. Here Hasaranga cuts the ball short of good length. The ball went into the slips quickly. But Rohit Sharma could not catch the catch.
6. Aslanka tied the match by taking 2 wickets
India needed 5 runs from 18 balls. Shivam Dubey and Mohammad Siraj were at the crease. After playing two dot balls, Dubey hit a four on the third. Team India needed only one run, here Charith Asalanka made Dubey LBW. India needed one run from 14 balls. Here Aslanka also made Arshdeep Singh LBW and India was all out.
