A total of 10,500 athletes will participate in the Paris Olympics. India has a squad of 117 players, of which 47 are women. Badminton star PV Sindhu and veteran table tennis player Sharath Kamal will be India’s flag bearers at the opening ceremony. Let us tell you that a 78-member Indian contingent will participate in the ‘Athlete Parade’ in the opening ceremony. Apart from Sindhu and Sharath, other important players include archer Deepika Kumari, boxer Lovlina Borgohain, table tennis player Manika Batra and tennis player Rohan Bopanna.
Indian men’s hockey team also has a match against New Zealand on Saturday, so only three reserve players will attend the function. Boat driver Balraj Panwar has a race on Saturday morning, so he will not be a part of the athlete parade. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) said that all the players who have made themselves available for the opening ceremony will be part of the parade. “Many players have competition on Saturday and the IOA respects their decision to prioritize their preparations and not participate in the opening ceremony,” the IOA said.
