Prime Minister Modi on Friday interacted personally and online with the players going to Paris Olympics. During this, PM Modi had a virtual conversation with Neeraj Chopra, boxer Nikhat Zareen and two-time Olympic medalist badminton player PV Sindhu. Prime Minister Narendra Modi jokingly told Neeraj Chopra that he has not yet sent churma, to which the Olympic and world champion javelin thrower promised to feed him churma this time.

Taking a dig at Neeraj, who was engaged in an online conversation, Prime Minister Modi said, “Churma has not come for you yet.” Neeraj said, “Sir, we will bring churma this time.” Last time in Delhi, there was churma with sugar but we will feed you churma made of desi ghee and jaggery from Haryana. On this, the Prime Minister said, “I want to eat churma made by your mother.” Last time, after returning from the Tokyo Olympics. Later, while welcoming the players, Modi served churma to Chopra and ice cream to two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu at his residence.

India is sending a contingent of about 120 players to the Paris Olympics and hopes that this time they will perform better than the Tokyo Olympics. India had won seven medals in the Tokyo Olympics, including the gold medal won by Neeraj Chopra in javelin throw.

Tokyo was my first Olympics in which I won gold and the reason for that was that there was no fear in my mind and I had confidence in my training.

He said, “I would tell all the players to give their best without fearing anyone. If we are working so hard while staying away from home, we can defeat anyone.” Prime Minister Modi said, ”You gave very useful information. May you be in good health, may there be no new injuries.
