After 2011, eyes were longing for Kohli or Rohit to lift the World Cup trophy. The long wait of 13 years is over. Rohit’s team snatched the T-20 World Cup from South Africa. Won a final which everyone had considered lost.
Rohit, who was batting fiercely throughout the World Cup, did not play in the final, but Kohli was adamant. Scored 76 runs. Akshar and Shivam also tried their best. Gave a target of 177 runs.
South Africa came out to bat. Till 14 overs, their batsmen were rapidly moving towards victory. After this, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya returned to bowl and India returned to the match. Suryakumar Yadav could not score runs, but turned the match with a catch.
India kept fighting till the last over and snatched the victory. South Africa, which was chasing 177 runs, was stopped at 169. Defeated by 7 runs. South Africa, which was being called chokers for 32 years, returned with a stain this time too.
Memorable picture of the title win on the ground of Barbados…
Indian captain Rohit Sharma planting the Indian flag at the Kensington Oval ground after winning the World Cup. Four months ago in February, BCCI General Secretary Jay Shah had said that I am confident that India will hoist the flag by winning the T20 World Cup on the ground of Barbados.
Now analysis of the final…
Match Winner- Virat Kohli
Before the final, Virat had scored a total of 75 runs in 7 matches. Scored 76 runs in the final itself. At a time when India lost the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar in the powerplay itself. Virat scored the maximum runs in the score of 176.
hero of victory
1. Akshar Patel
Axar was sent to bat by Rohit Sharma before Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dubey. Gave the responsibility to take care of the wicket and Akshar did just that. Came in in the 5th over with 3 wickets falling and was out in the 15th over, that too unfortunately. Ran for runs and was out. But before that he played an inning of 47 runs and hit 4 sixes.
2. Hardik Pandya
Scored only 5 runs in batting, but did wonders with the ball. Took the wicket of Heinrich Klaasen who had scored 52 runs on 27 balls. When 12 runs were needed in the last over, David Miller and Kagiso Rabada were dismissed.
3. Jasprit Bumrah
Jaspreet took the first wicket of Africa. Opener Reeza Hendricks was bowled in the second over. After this, his return came in the 16th over, when the match was in South Africa’s court. 30 runs were required from 30 balls. Bumrah gave only 4 runs. After this he came back in the 18th over and gave only 2 runs. Marco Janson was bowled in this over, it was not just a bowled but it was a seal of victory. South Africa had lost 6 wickets.
4. Arshdeep Singh
Captain Aiden Markram was dismissed inside the powerplay. Opener De Kock, who was moving towards his half-century, was dismissed. Arshdeep took 2 wickets giving just 20 runs in 4 overs. De Kock’s wicket was a big success for India.
2 reasons for victory…
1. 2 big partnerships of India
Virat Kohli came out to bat in the first over and remained there till the 19th over. Scored 76 runs. Apart from this innings, there were two partnerships which took the score to 176. Kohli first made a 72-run partnership with Axar Patel, then added 57 runs with Shivam Dubey.
2. Indian pacers changed the game in the last 4 overs
Indian fast bowlers performed brilliantly in the match. The trio of Bumrah, Arshdeep and Pandya together took 7 wickets. These three did not allow 30 runs to be scored in the last 5 overs. Bumrah gave 6 runs in the next 2 overs and took one wicket. Hardik gave 12 runs in 2 overs and took 3 wickets. Arshdeep bowled one over and gave 4 runs. These overs won the match.
turning point
1. Clason’s Wicket
Akshar came to bowl the 15th over, Heinrich Klaasen scored 24 runs on his 6 balls. After this, he completed 50 by taking a single in Bumrah’s over. Now only 26 runs were needed in 24 balls to win. Hardik came in the 17th over and took the wicket of Klaasen on the very first ball. This was the wicket after which Team India’s hopes of victory came alive.
2. Memorable catch by Surya, dangerous Miller out
South Africa had to score 16 runs in 6 balls and David Miller was at the crease. Hardik bowled a low full toss on the off stump. Miller played a shot which went beyond the boundary. Suryakumar took the catch while going out of the boundary, bounced the ball and completed the catch after coming inside the boundary.
Fighter of the Match – Heinrich Klaasen
Heinrich Klaasen was the fighter of the match. He played an explosive inning of 52 runs on 27 balls. Clausen scored at a strike rate of 192.59. He lost 2 fours and 5 wickets.
