According to a personal letter written by a senior health official, Shubhra Singh, to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), the state of Rajasthan tested samples of several spices and found a batch of Everest spice blend and two types of spices from MDH unsafe. Went. He further said that batches of MDH and Everest were made in Gujarat, Haryana. In such a situation, the officials of both the states should take immediate action against them. This letter is not public but has been seen by Reuters. However, there has been no response from Shubhra Singh and FSSAI on this.

According to Food Safety Commissioner Iqbal Khan, during the investigation, apart from MDH, Everest, spices of renowned companies like Gajanand, Shyam, Sheeba Taj have been found ‘unsafe’. He said that according to the investigation, ‘Acetamiprid’, ‘Thiamethoxam’, ‘Imidacloprid’ were found in ‘MDH’ company’s garam masala, ‘Tricycle’, ‘Profenophos’ in vegetable masala and chana masala, ‘Acetamiprid’ in Shyam company’s garam masala. , ‘Thiamethoxam’ and ‘Acetamiprid’ were found in Raita Masala of Sheeba Fresh Company, ‘Ethion’ in Pickle Masala of Gajanand Company and ‘Azoxystrobin’ and ‘Thiamethoxam Pesticide/Insecticide’ were found in the cumin masala of Everest Company, much more than the prescribed quantity, Which can be very harmful for health.
Ban imposed in Hong Kong and Singapore
On April 5, Hong Kong’s food safety regulator Center for Food Safety (CFS) said it had found pesticide ‘ethylene oxide’ in excess of permissible limits in samples of a variety of canned spice products from two Indian brands. It has asked consumers not to purchase these products. In view of the CFS order, the Singapore Food Agency ordered the recall of the products.
These products were: Everest Fish Curry Masala, MDH Madras Curry Powder (Spice Mix for Madras Curry), MDH Sambar Masala Mixed Spice Powder, and MDH Curry Powder Mixed Spice Powder. After this, samples of spices are on the radar in India also.
