After changing the name and logo of Twitter, Elon Musk has now changed its domain to x.com. Giving this information on X, he wrote, ‘All core systems are now on x.com.’
On July 24, 2023, Musk changed the name and logo of Twitter to X. Then x.com was redirected to twitter.com, but now with the main domain being changed to x.com, twitter.com has been redirected to it.
Privacy and data safety settings same
A message is also now visible at the bottom of the X login page that reads, ‘We’re letting you know that we’re changing our URL, but your privacy and data protection settings will remain the same.’

Elon Musk purchased micro blogging platform Twitter (now X) on October 27, 2022. This deal was done for 44 billion dollars. As of today, this amount is around Rs 3.6 lakh crore. Since then, many major changes have been made in the platform. Musk wants to make X an ‘everything app’.

1. More than half the employees laid off
After buying Twitter, Musk first fired four top officials of the company. These included CEO Parag Aggarwal, Finance Chief Ned Segal, legal executives Vijaya Gadde and Sean Edgett. When Musk took command of X, there were about 7500 employees, but now only about 2500 are left.
2. Unblocked multiple blocked accounts
In November 2022, Musk unblocked many blocked accounts including that of former US President Donald Trump. He had conducted a poll on X regarding Trump’s return. He had asked, should President Trump’s account be restored. Yes or no. More than 1.5 crore users took part in voting and 52% people answered yes.
3. Launched Blue Subscription Service
Elon Musk has launched Blue Subscription worldwide. Blue subscription cost for web users in India is Rs 650. The subscription charge for mobile is Rs 900 per month. Many features are available in it including blue tick, long video post. Blue Subscription was later renamed X Premium.
4. Removed legacy blue check marks
On April 20, 2023, Musk removed all legacy blue check marks from his platform. The blue check mark was previously reserved for verified accounts of politicians, celebrities, journalists and other public figures. Musk had added it to the subscription service. Now subscribed users get a checkmark only after a review by X’s team.
5. Character limit increased, limit for reading posts
Musk has increased the character limit of posts from 280 to 25,000. When this company was formed the character limit was 140. Limit for reading posts has also been applied. Verified users can read only ten thousand posts in a day. Unverified users can read one thousand posts, while new unverified users can read only 500 posts daily.
6. Made Linda Yaccarino the CEO of the company
On June 5, 2023, Linda Yaccarino joined the company as CEO. Prior to this, she was Chairman of Global Advertising and Partnerships at NBC Universal. Linda was made the CEO of the company by Musk. Before Linda, he himself was handling this responsibility.
Musk had said that Linda will mainly focus on business operations, while I will focus on product design and new technology.
On June 5, 2023, Linda Yaccarino joined Twitter as CEO.
7. Audio and video call feature rollout
Audio-video call feature rolled out on X on 26 October 23. This feature is currently available only on iOS and will soon be available on Android also. Premium subscribers will be able to make audio-video calls. Whereas other users will only be able to receive calls. Musk told through X post that this is the initial version of audio-video calling.

Elon Musk has been associated with X since 1999. Then he created an online banking company X.com. It later merged with another company which became PayPal. In 2017, Musk re-purchased the URL “X.com” from PayPal.
