The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has sent a notice to wrestler Vinesh Phogat for not providing correct information about her place of residence. NADA has sought a reply from Vinesh within 14 days. In the notice, the agency told Vinesh that she had made a mistake in not disclosing information about her place of residence as she was not available for the dope test at her home in Kharkhoda village of Sonipat on September 9.
NADA’s notice read: ‘This notice is issued to inform you of your apparent failure to comply with the venue information requirements under the Anti-Doping Rules and to seek your response before a final decision on the matter. . A Dope Control Officer (DCO) was sent to the venue that day to test you, but he was unable to do so because you were not present at the venue.
All players included in NADA’s Registered Testing Pool (RTP) are required to inform about their availability for dope test. The location given by the player. If he is not available at that place, it is considered a failure to report his whereabouts. NADA can only charge an athlete if he violates venue information rules three times in 12 months.
Now what next?
- Vinesh will have to either admit the violation or provide evidence that she was present at that place for approximately 60 minutes.
- Vinesh may say that the accommodation-related failure is not an anti-doping rule violation.
